The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) organizes the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 (KMY) every year, usually between June and September, through two designated routes – the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. This sacred yatra is highly revered for its religious significance and cultural heritage, attracting hundreds of devotees annually. For Hindus, the journey holds immense spiritual value as Mount Kailash is believed to be the divine abode of Lord Shiva. At the same time, the yatra also carries deep importance for Jains, as it is associated with the liberation of their first Tirthankara, and for Buddhists, who consider Kailash the spiritual center of the universe. Participation in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 is open to eligible Indian citizens who hold a valid Indian passport and wish to undertake this journey for religious and spiritual purposes. However, it is important to note that the MEA does not provide any subsidy or financial assistance for pilgrims.
